Chronic Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Wrist pain

Patient had Bilateral Chronic Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from working as legal clerk for 20+years.

Patient has had CTS for about 15 years. She did have surgery on right side which had a 4-6 month recovery. The surgery did help, but within 1 year the pain started to return to near pre-surgery levels. There was also now increased stiffness due to scar tissue build up.

Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis: qi/blood stagnation in pericardium channel

Treatment: Ashi LR 3-8 (very tender on her) bilaterally 1x week for 1 month. Cupping was done occasionally on knots/trigger points found in rotator cuff muscles and neck.

Results: Reduced her pain, numbness and tingling about 75-85%. She returns every 1-2 months to maintain the improvement (she still  has same job). She also has noticed that she feels less anxiety and chest tightness which she had been dealing with, but didn't think could be treated with acupuncture.
